Furnace Troubleshooting flow chart

Dec 06, 2014 · Hi Steve! This sounds like your furnace is sparking (clicking) but there is not any ignition to the pilot. Maybe no gas to the pilot. If you have a gas valve that has a PV (pilot valve) and an MV (main valve) then I would think that either you are not getting the 24 volts to the PV since the pilot is not lighting to continue the furnace ignition sequence.

How does an enclosed furnace get enough combustion air

Apr 26, 2007 · So what makes a furnace enclosed? When a furnace is in a room that has less than 50 cubic feet of air for every cubic foot of gas (1,000 BTU/hr), vents are needed in the room. Stated another way, 1 cubic foot of air is needed for every 20 BTU/hr (input). And remember, you have to consider all the appliances in the room.

Furnaces Must be Modified for High-altitude Applications

Nov 27, 2017 · That means a furnace in a high-altitude home will need to be larger than the same size home at sea level in order to meet heating demand. For example, a 100,000 Btuh induced-draft, fixed-input furnace at sea level will input approximately 100 cubic feet/hour of natural gas with a heat content of roughly 1,000 Btu/cubic foot, said Thingvold.

How a Gas Furnace Works - HomeTips

Jan 22, 2021 · A gas forced-air heating system goes into action when the thermostat tells it that the room temperature has dropped below a preset comfort level. The thermostat sends a low-voltage electrical signal to a relay in the furnace, which signals a valve to open and deliver natural gas to the burners and for the blower to turn on.
